All classes can wear this armor except for Knights. MA's don't have innate extra blocking; it's just for this item. Testing done at Mythic:

mythical carapace gets 8 piercing=only difference above artifact
deathstalker poisons sundevil concs, maybe focus him first
Froggo/Toaddo= Toaddo can enrage and fear even if solo and has a nasty poison
