Nestled deep in the mountains of Axe Glacier lies a small village of mountain dwellers living on the outskirts of an old abandoned mountain fortress. At least it was thought to be abandoned until recent guard patrols and adventurers have reported that the fortress is now occupied by a clan of gnolls. The fortress was originally developed as a mine, and some of the finest and largest gold rocks and gemstones were pulled from the depths of the Axe mountains. Legend has it that an ancient Evil was inadvertently uncovered in the depths of the mines that led to the destruction of the mine and deaths of many in the company. The mining company paid top dollar to assemble a team of the strongest adventurers in the land and sent them to seal the Evil back in the deep.

background-blackburrow.jpg "In the depths of the mountains, treasures gleam, gnolls reign, and an evil hungers."

Nestled in the shadow of Axe Glacier lies a small, weathered village clinging to the outskirts of Blackburrow. Once a prosperous mining outpost, the area has long since fallen into ruin. The abandoned mine and its fortress above were thought empty for years, but recent reports tell a different story: a brutal clan of gnolls has taken up residence, claiming the fortress and its tunnels as their stronghold. The village, now sparsely populated, serves as a tenuous haven for adventurers preparing to delve into the burrow’s dangerous depths.

Blackburrow itself is a labyrinth of winding tunnels and sprawling caverns, originally dug by miners searching for gold and gemstones. The mine’s wealth was legendary, with some of the largest gold veins in the Known Lands pulled from its depths. However, legend tells of an ancient Evil unearthed during the mining operations, one so terrible that it destroyed the company and nearly wiped out the surrounding area. Adventurers of old were hired to seal the Evil deep within the mines, and their success seemed assured—until the gnolls arrived. Now, dark forces stir once more, and the gnolls guard the fortress with ruthless cunning.

The gnolls of Blackburrow are no ordinary adversaries. Masters of the twisting tunnels, they set traps and ambushes with precision, turning the burrow into a deadly maze. Strange and ancient symbols carved into the walls suggest that the gnolls’ arrival is no coincidence—they may be drawn to the lingering power of whatever was sealed in the mines long ago. Deeper still, monstrous creatures and dark magic lie waiting for those who dare to press onward.

To venture into Blackburrow is to embrace both danger and opportunity. The gnolls are said to hoard treasures salvaged from the mines, including rare gems and ancient relics of untold power. Yet for many, it is not the promise of riches but the challenge of conquering the gnolls’ fortress and uncovering the truth about the ancient Evil that drives them. Blackburrow is a place where legends are forged, but only the boldest and most skilled will live to tell their tale.
